There’s something about a waterfall surrounded by fall color that makes an already beautiful place feel completely different. Autumn Descent captures water spilling over dark rock beneath layers of golden leaves in Shenandoah National Park, one of those scenes that made me stop and stay a little longer.

There are waterfalls that are beautiful in photographs, and then there are waterfalls that make you stop for a minute when you finally see them in person. Ganoga Falls is one of those places. Surrounded by layers of green and tucked into the forest, the water seems to find a hundred different paths down the rock before reaching the bottom.
